Universal Audio Volt 2 Max USB Audio Interface (Max Processing / 10-in / 4-out)
Volt 2 Max takes two preamps and adds Max Processing realtime compression, a built-in talkback mic, ADAT/S/PDIF optical input, MIDI, a USB hub and two headphone outputs — for creators who want polished vocals or guitars at the source and easy monitoring with collaborators.
Universal Audio and Volt
Universal Audio (UA) traces its roots to the 1950s, when founder Bill Putnam Sr. built the 610 tube console and the 1176 compressor that remain studio staples today. Volt is built by the same team behind Apollo interfaces, bringing UA analog sound and workflows to an easy-to-use USB interface.
What’s New in Gen 2
Volt Gen 2 and Volt Max use newly designed 32-bit / 192 kHz A/D and D/A conversion, with the same preamps as Volt 876. The single Vintage mode becomes three Tone Shaping preamp modes — Warmth (Tube), Focus (Solid State) and Shine (British Class-A) — for character at the source with one button.
Max Processing
Volt Max models feature Max Processing — six one-touch dynamics presets derived from UA’s 1176, LA-2A and VCA compressor emulations: Great Vocal, Rap Vocal, Album Vocal, Electric Guitar, Jangly Acoustic and Tight Bass. Processing is realtime with no added latency, and pairs with Tone Shaping for more than 18 combinations.
Included Software
Includes the UAD Volt Studio Bundle with 15+ plug-ins such as the LA-2A and 1176 compressors, Topline Vocal Tune, Showtime ’64 and Lion ’68 guitar amps, Anthem and PolyMAX synths, plus LUNA. Also includes Melodyne Essential, a three-month FL Studio Producer Edition trial and more (subject to change by UA).
