What makes Shubb capos different? One word: design.
The patented roller locking mechanism delivers unmatched control—smooth, fast, precise, and easy to use. The unique lever action applies pressure evenly, ensuring a secure fit and quick release.
Most importantly, Shubb capos won’t affect your tuning. The custom rubber pad mimics a fingertip, so it doesn’t press the strings too far or pull them off center. That means: no retuning needed.
Made without compromise, Shubb's craftsmanship speaks for itself. One touch, and you’ll feel the difference.。
If you prefer something lightweight, the Shubb Lite series is made for you.,
Shubb Capos: A Legacy of Innovation Since 1974
Founded in California in 1974 by banjoist Rick Shubb and his student, auto mechanic Dave Coontz,
Shubb Capos began with a mission to create a better fifth-string capo for banjo.
Dissatisfied with existing options, Rick envisioned a lever-operated design that would provide precise pressure without detuning.
Dave brought this vision to life, crafting the first prototype from aluminum, which, despite its rough appearance, performed exceptionally well.
Their collaboration led to the development of a capo that mimics the grip of a human hand, ensuring consistent pressure and maintaining tuning stability.
This innovative design quickly gained popularity among musicians.
In 1979, Shubb Capos officially entered the market, and by 1982, they showcased their products at the NAMM Show, marking their presence in the music industry.
Today, Shubb Capos are renowned for their quality and reliability, trusted by musicians worldwide.
Their commitment to innovation and craftsmanship continues to set them apart in the world of musical accessories.
